Silent Poetry Reading and Saying Goodnight to God

WHAT: A Bloggers (Silent) Poetry Reading
WHEN: Anytime February 2, 2006
WHERE: Your blog
WHY: To celebrate the Feast of Bridgid, aka Groundhog Day (It's also Candlemas)

originated from http://goldpoppy.blogspot.com/2006/01/youre-invited.html

I picked this - it was the first piece of poetry I had to memorize and recite in front of a class in Jr. High English Class. First time I remember experiencing cotton mouth I was so nervous. However, I love the poem.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

For a poem whose recitation caused such anxiety, I still have an affection for it.

I write this as I sit in a hotel from Savannah - Diocesan Convention. A most lovely compline service - a feast for the ears and soul in a most lovely Christ Church Savannah.

May God grant you a safe night's end and a peaceful rest. Amen.

Pouring rain here again today, so I am taking time to catch up on reading some blogs. As I was looking through yours I wondered if you had ever read "Socks for Supper". It is a kid's book, but anyone who knits might enjoy it too.

Enjoy your warm weather and sunshine today. We are hoping and praying for snow all this week so we can finally get up to Riverwood for our snowshoe holiday. I will keep you posted.
