What was the $50 bet between editor Bennett Cerf and Theodor Geisel --- aka Dr. Seuss -- that resulted in the children's classic Green Eggs and Ham?

And, as promised, the answer is: According to 365 Amazing Trivia Facts Calendar, Cerf bet Geisel that he couldn't write a book using 50 words or less. Geisel won.

Those mittens finally got into the mail yesterday. Sorry it took so long.
Ted Geisel (Dr Seuss) was bet by Bennett Cerf that he could not write a children's book with a vocabulary of only 100 words (Might have the number wrong, but the bet is basically accurate). In part, that accounts for all the repetition in the book.
Is Poor Mad Peter right?
